Dame Patience Jonathan, wife of ex-President Goodluck Jonathan, has written a letter to the the Chairman of EFCC, Ibrahim Magu stating how the said $15m got into her account.

In the letter with with reference number GA/Abibo/00226/2016, written by her lawyers, Granville Abibo (SAN) and Co she said the money which was frozen in four companies’ accounts, is to settle medical bills and personal expenses while she was out of the country. The former first lady has therefore urged the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission and Skye Bank to lift the restriction on the accounts.

A detective in the EFCC in reacting to the allegation said they got relevant court order to freeze those accounts and have evident to prove it.He further said they didn’t know the accounts belonged to Patience Jonathan at the time it was frozen because it neither carried her name nor her BVN(bank verification number)
